Harav Mattisyahu Salomon Speaks

The Value of Lechu V’Nelcha

In the words of Harav Mattisyahu Salomon, shlita, Mashgiach of Bais Medrash Govoha of Lakewood on  כ’ כסלו תש”עה :

“Lechu V’Nelcha is a wonderful project. From the first time it was suggested to me I was extremely enthusiastic that this is a program on which the future success of every Bais Yaakov (girl) will depend on.

Bais Yaakov was an original program for girls to be provided with the tools that they need to combat the environment which is not always conducive to Torah life. And it was meant to set up girls with the right hashkafah and the ability and the possibility to be able to marry bnei Torah and be wives to talmidei chachamim, emesa, eishes chaver k’chaver.

That the times of –  of course a situation where there’s often a gap between the time of when one’s learning in Bais Yaakov and the time when one is zocheh to marry a ben Torah. In that period many influences are met up with which one has to combat and which one has to be able to remain strong to keep all the ideals that one has learned in Bais Yaakov. ‘Bais Yaakov lechu v’nelcha b’ohr Hashem.’ It’s very interesting. We’re not telling the Bais Yaakov to ‘come;’ we’re telling the Bais Yaakov to ‘go.’ ‘Bais Yaakov lechu v’nelcha b’ohr Hashem.’

A girl who has had the chinuch of Bais Yaakov and leaves the Bais Yaakov, ‘shilchu’ -shes going out of Bais Yaakov, she has to have continuously in front of her the light of Hashem. ‘Lechu v’nelcha b’ohr Hashem.’

And this concept (Lechu V’nelcha) was born in order to afford you the opportunity to never lose sight of the ohr Hashem that you received in Bais Yaakov. To leave the Bais Yaakov, to go ahead and progress and have always as your guiding light the ohr Hashem. With shiurim. Continuous shiurim. Shiurim which should be regular and keep you in contact with your friends from Bais Yaakov, keep you in contact with the mashpi’im from Bais Yakov and have an opportunity to grow and grow further based on everything that you have learnt in the Bais Yaakov. It’s important. It’s vital. Without which I don’t think any girl can survive. And without which a family of bnei Torah will not be able to develop the way that the Bais Yaakov really wants them to develop.

So I wish you all a lot of hatzlachah in understanding to appreciate what one is offering you with this one time opportunity to keep up contact with the Bais Yaakov and everything that it stands for.”

Harav Mattisyahu’s Address to LVN Lakewood

On the shloshim of Rebbetzin Miriam Salomon, o”h

In the words of Harav Mattisyahu Salomon, shlita, on ו’ טבת תשע”ז

“I didn’t really come here to speak, but seeing such a wonderful oilam who have come here l’chvodah – it seems to me that the right thing is to say a few words.

First of all, I would like to thank everybody who organized to come here for the shloshim. It is a gevaldige iluy nishmasah.

A lady who shunned publicity all her life, and I am sure that in Shamayim they are telling her to accept this kavod because it will bear fruits. Each of you will be able b’ezer Hashem Yisborach to emulate, in one way or another, her ways that you are being taught this evening.

When Rebbetzin Fink, zol zein gezunt uhn shtark, when she called me to make sure that her post seminary program is the right thing, I remember at the time how excited my wife o”h – how excited she was!

I think you all know that she was not a seminary product. But she understood that a post seminary program is very important.  I think it sets a young lady on her feet in a way that the seminary cannot do the job. It is therefore a gevaldige zchus that you come here tonight. And b’ezer Hashem Yisborach there will be peiros from this evening.

Hashem Yisborach should bless you all with all the brachos that you deserve in undertaking to shteig higher.  Bais yaakov lechu v’nelcha indicates movement. You were always going forward, but now I think one has changed course, one is going higher!

Hashem Yisbarach should help you all, you should reach the goal.”
